The University of Bristol Law Clinic was originally established by Donald Nicholson in 1995 as a pro bono organisation providing free legal advice to those who, for whatever reason, could not obtain it elsewhere. Following 16 years of successful advice giving, the Law Clinic are now moving forward and experiencing exciting changes by focusing on a new initiative for 2011: 'StreetLaw'!
StreetLaw involves students in the Law Clinic work together to identify important legal issues concerning different sections of the local community: a presentation is delivered to those concerned with the aim to increase legal literacy and awareness of key issues surrounding the law amongst large numbers in local society.
Although the Clinic will no longer be running as an advice-giving centre itself, we still intend to maintain our advice-giving element by providing local organisations with support from student members to assist with their workload.
The Law Clinic is organised and run by students and are well supported by senior members of the Clinic, academic staff and trainee lawyers. We are sponsored by Burges Salmon, a leading regional law firm, who provide us with valuable funding, training and support.
We are very grateful to Conscious Solutions for providing the design, developing & hosting resources for our new website.
